How AR Optical Waveguide Display Module Works?

Waveguide itself is not a new technology.  Optical waveguide display modules are made using the same technology, which allows one-way light waves to be guided down the cable.  Upon looking at fiber optic cables from the side, you don't see light, only the points of light at the end.  Waveguide lenses use the same properties of unidirectional light waves to guide light waves through a lens or plane (a planar waveguide) from end to end.


Why Use Waveguide Display for Augmented Reality Module?

The biggest advantage of using waveguide as a photosynthetic combiner lies in the spatial optimization of waveguide AR glasses design.  

By placing the tiny waveguide display and imaging optics on one side (at the top or side of the forehead), it not only minimizes visual impairment, but optimizes the weight balance of the device and improves ergonomics as well.

There are other advantages of optical display module of 5g smart glasses including:

1) Large eye frame and improved mechanical tolerances to accommodate more people -- one and two dimensional exit pupil expansion.
